Psilocybin, MDMA, and LSD were first used to treat mental disorders in global therapy in the 1970s. These substances are still banned in Ukraine. Instead, more traditional methods are used to treat depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), such as psychotherapy and antidepressants.
Some people who fail to recover using these methods could be helped by psychedelic-assisted therapy, which is currently little known in Ukraine. However, among psychedelic substances, only ketamine is currently authorized for such treatment.
What is ketamine therapy and how it is used to treat mental disorders - in the article by hromadske.
