fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease that affects the muscles and tissues of the body, causing symptoms of pain and stiffness. Pain can range from moderate to severe and affect different parts of the body at different times. This pain can be debilitating, often accompanied by sleep disturbances, and is still not fully understood by medical science.

Abroad, fibromyalgia today is one of the most common outpatient diseases, which ranks 2-3 among all visits to a rheumatologist. However, in domestic practice, this diagnosis is made very rarely, since fibromyalgia is still poorly known to our doctors and is little recognized by them as an independent disease, as a result of which it is treated as standard rheumatism. Such medical ignorance is a problem (and even a danger) for patients who require the appointment of adequate, modern therapy.

In our experience and the opinion of colleagues, the psychosomatic component and the state of chronic stress play a significant role in the origin of fibromyalgia. According to research, “the connection with depression and stress suggested the psychosomatic nature of the disease and put forward the concept of “psychogenic rheumatism”. There are reports that an inadequate stress coping response increases the latent readiness of loose connective tissue for an inflammatory process, resulting in favorable conditions for autoallergic and autoimmune processes inherent in chronic diseases. Therefore, maladaptive behaviors associated with frustration contribute to the development of the phenomenon of neurogenic inflammation. It is assumed that under stress in the area of vegetative-sensitive axons (nerve fibers) ending in the main substance of the connective tissue, inflammatory mediators are released.”

Therefore, psychotherapy in the treatment of fibromyalgia gives a good result. Also a promising treatment for the inflammation and pain associated with fibromyalgia is infusion treatment with ketamine. Studies show an imbalance of "excitatory" and "inhibitory" neurotransmitters in fibromyalgia, in particular the neurotransmitter glutamate, the excess release of which is involved in pain mechanisms. It is his receptors that ketamine blocks.

Due to the fact that each person is unique and different both physiologically and psychologically, it is obvious that treatment should be individualized. That is why we select the most suitable therapy for each patient, which allows the patient to gradually get rid of the symptoms, and some for the first time in many years resume the vital activity that they have missed for so long. Together, this leads to a decrease not only in pain, but also in violations mental activity, known as "fibrofog" or "fog in the head".

Combining psychotherapy with ketamine infusions, transcranial electrical stimulation (TES), rehabilitation of the brain "Neurohelp", body-oriented therapy and kinesiotherapy, it is possible to achieve a significant improvement in the health of patients.

Reviews from our patients about the treatment of fibromyalgia

Lyubov Oleksandrivna tried to get rid of fibromyalgia (chronic pain syndrome) for twenty years. Unfortunately, it was not very effective, so she developed a depressive disorder. See her testimonial about how the course of treatment at the Expio clinic helped her.

Yuriy turned to our center after prolonged ineffective treatment of chronic pain syndrome in other medical institutions and depressive-anxiety disorder that developed against this background. After a course of ketamine psychotherapy and the use of our other methods, the patient not only got rid of pain and mental disorder, but also improved his personality.

Testimony of patient Victoria about the treatment of chronic psychosomatic pain syndrome and depression due to this problem. After a course of ketamine psychotherapy combined with transcranial electrical stimulation of the brain and vagus nerve stimulation, Victoria's condition improved greatly. The conversation is conducted by Daria Shaposhnyk-Dominska, a clinical psychologist of the EXPIO Center, candidate of psychological sciences.
